As a restorer of terracotta in the Sablon (Brussels) and a repairer of works of art, pots or sculptures, the Atelier Coperta also provides this service with expertise.

Any restoration of terracotta works of art

The beginning of terracotta sculpture dates back to the Paleolithic period. Although it is used today in art, whether for objects or otherwise, terracotta was used at that time to make functional objects such as dishes, jars and other containers.

Award-winning know-how

The know-how of clay pottery has even been registered by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. Take a closer look at their website. Large collections dating back thousands of years still exist, such as the Terracota Army, the army of the first Qin emperor.

The repair will be done by modelling, moulding with resins to recreate the shapes. When the clay object is rough and not patinated, it attracts dust. We will get rid of it with delicacy. The renovation of patinas or paintings is also part of our services and is carried out with the meticulousness that it requires.

Are clay pots resistant to the cold of winter?

Unfortunately the answer to this question is no. Terracotta pots are often not frost resistant.
